Here there are no red leaves on the Virginia Creeper at the moment.

red through autumn
now a web of bare branches
against the wall
here and there nests
exposed until the new growth

I like the picture - is that now?

This literally exudes cheer, Aurora!
(Is it just my eyes, or is that a poinsettia?)

Thanks everyone for reading and commenting.

No, Lary, it really isn't a poinsetta, it's a Virginia Creeper.:) It does look like one though. As far as the date when Bruce took the photograph, I'll have to check when he returns, but it was his recent gift to me, hence the reference to a Virginia Creeper brightening up mid-February. Red is my favourite colour, so Bruce often mats and frames his best "red" shots for me. You should see my living room! :)

Just spoke with Bruce who can't comment because he doesn't have a blogger account just yet, but he reassures me that the photo is of a Virginia Creeper (pointsettias don't grow on the vine and they have groupings of buds in the center). Also, this photo was shot in Ojibway Park in Canada, which does not grow pointsettias, but has lots of Virginia Creepers.:) He also said he bumped up the red because he knows I love red. He was kind enough to forward me a photo of a pointsettia he shot in a greenhouse also in Canada so you can see the difference:

Hi Aurora!
Thanks for going to all that trouble...I never realized before how closely the leaves resemble each other!
And just for you, I added one of my virginia creeper photos to my blog...color untouched, lol!
(I know the leaves can get quite red...but I think our soil is lacking in something...)
