I have the same feeling about the people that live right behind us --- that's sad -- used to, you would know everything about your neighbors here. (more than you wanted to know!)
I've met my new neighbours cat, Loki, but not the neighbours as yet. :(

Hi Lary,
They're actually pruning the tree in a Buddhist Centre near Tokyo.
I couldn't resist adding the Basho alluded haiku with the picture!
